Ruhu-l Quran
Ruhu-l Quran is an integrated study environment for examining the Holy Quran word by word, root by root, and sentence by sentence. Its aim is to present every layer — from the wording of a verse to its meaning and its grammatical parsing (i'rab) — on a single, interconnected screen.
What you can do
At the heart of the application is the Verse Panel, which displays the verse or range of verses you select. From this panel, for the same verse, you can:
- Read translations, commentaries, meaning-based and i'rab commentaries side by side,
- View the recitations (qiraat) and the morphological (sarf) analysis of each word,
- Study the verse's i'rab tree in exactly the same nested-cell layout as the desktop application.
Dictionary and search tools are gathered together for textual study:
- With Mu'jam and Classified Mu'jam, follow every occurrence of a root in the Quran and its semantic classes,
- With Dictionary, Search in Translations and Commentaries, and Text Search, run diacritic-sensitive searches,
- In the I'rab Search screen, build your own parsing template and find matching sentences across the entire Quran,
- With Morphology Search, scan by root, pattern, and word criteria combined with all the sub-properties of a word class.
Morphology (sarf) studies are developed under a dedicated section:
- With Verb and Noun Conjugations, generate the full conjugation tables of a root, and with Conjugation Finder, resolve the conjugation of a given word,
- Browse topics such as Purposes of the Prepositions (harf-i jarr), Derived Nouns, Verbal Nouns (masdar), Plurals, Solid Nouns (jamid), Non-declinable Nouns (ghayr munsarif), Active / Passive / Comparative Participles, Assimilate Adjectives (sifa mushabbaha), Nouns of Time / Place / Instrument, each with their examples,
- See the structural relations between words through Effects of the Verb Forms (bab), Pronoun References, and the Word Tree.
The interface is available in Turkish, Arabic, and English; Arabic texts are shown with traditional and Kufic script options and correct (RTL) directionality.
About the development
The software and algorithms of the desktop version of this work were developed by Dr. M. Lütfi Hocaoğlu. All of the core algorithms — i'rab tree matching, morphological analysis and conjugation engines, diacritic-sensitive search — are the product of long effort.
In the web version of the project, the interfaces were built by Claude (Anthropic), while the algorithms were taken from the desktop project without any modification. Thus the behavior tested and verified on the desktop is preserved identically in the web environment.
